About this Site
AirBeagle is a site about Frank, Steve, their three beagles, and their life and the random thoughts that run through their heads.
Frank was born in 1966 in Pasadena, CA. He has a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a master’s from the University of Michigan. He is currently a research librarian at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
Steve was born in 1963 in Roswell, NM. He has a bachelor’s degree from Cameron University (Oklahoma), a master’s degree from the University of Michigan, and teaching certification in Michigan and California. He mostly writes and deals with medical drama; he was a public elementary school teacher until 2010.
The original beagle of AirBeagle was Bayley Murphey Beagle, who was born 20-Aug-1994, in Kemp, TX. Bayley is a beloved part of life for Frank and Steve; he lives on in their memories even after his passing to the Rainbow Bridge on 2-Mar-2007.
Bayley’s passing left a huge hole in life, so the three Beagle Boys — Feargal, Fergus and Fredrik — came to carry on their big brother’s traditions. They are brothers born on 8-Mar-2007 and keep life full and happy.

Our web creativity needs are handled exclusively by «Macintosh»; specifically, at this time, a 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro 15 running OS X, v10.6.7 Snow Leopard. Steve uses Adobe Photoshop, Mozilla Firefox, Panic’s Transmit SFTP tool, and Apple Text Edit to handle the site.
Steve designed and coded the current version of the site. Royalty-free stock photographs appear on the site from «stock.xchng VI», which is highly recommended; otherwise, all photos were taken by either Steve or Frank.
The site’s visual look is produced by a «valid CSS 3». The organizational/structural code is «valid HTML 5» code. Yup, we’re on the bleedin’ edge here. It should render perfectly in most up-to-date, decent browsers (Firefox, Safari, etc.), with the exception of anything ever produced by Microsoft. Cranky sidebar: Internet Explorer is a bloated, crappy, nightmare tool of Satan and Steve refuses to torture himself by attempting to write hundreds of lines of code just to get it to display a simple box correctly, let alone anything else. Want to visit AirBeagle? Get «Firefox», for your (and god’s) sake.
AirBeagle is hosted by shared accelerators provided by the fine folks at «Joyent», the premier, bleeding-edge webhost. AirBeagle was proud to be one of the second round of Venture Capital funders of the original Textdrive, founded by Dean Allen and which later merged with Joyent to do really amazing things. AirBeagle was hosted on the server One until November 2007; it is now on the Kemp server, a Sun Solaris shared accelerator. The backend power behind Joyent is provided by Apache, PHP, MySQL, and Joyent’s Accelerators, which are Sun Solaris servers located in San Diego, CA.
The CMS used to manage the content of AirBeagle is, once again, «TextPattern» (now 4.4.0). Comments and critiques are welcome, but we track our visitors. Play nice, boys and girls.
You can subscribe to each site’s Atom/RSS syndication feed by clicking on the ‘Syndicate’ link in the header and then bookmarking the resulting page.
AirBeagle’s content and design, etc., are © 1999-2011 by Steve Pollock, and all rights are reserved. The first AirBeagle site, airbeagle.com, first appeared on the web on 17-Mar-99; what was once a little hobby is now entering its second decade.
The ‘air’ in AirBeagle was chosen because Steve loves flying and airliners; the ‘beagle’ because, well that should be obvious.
And now you know. We thank you for visiting and hope you enjoy your stay.
